The day January 8, 2001 marks the 25th anniversary of the passing away of Premier Zhou Enlai, and a class in Nankai University, his Alma Mater, was formally named after him on January 6.

The class thus named is Grade 99 majoring in tourism at the International Business Institute, Nankai University, with a certificate issued by the Zhou Enlai Study Group of the CPC Central Party Literature Research Center, Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao Museum, and Nankai University.

In old days Zhou had studied for the rise of the Chinese nation and now we are studying for the thriving of China, said Wu Jingyi, a student of the Zhou Enlai Class.

Earlier Zhou Enlai classes had been set up in 17 colleges and middle schools, such as Nanjing University, Northern Jiaotong University, Beijing Broadcasting Institute, and the Attached Middle School of University of Science and Technology of China.

Nankai University was the first amongst higher educational institutions in China to set up a Zhou Enlai Research Room in 1978, followed by a research center in 1997, and over the years it has won great academic achievements to that end, said Hong Guoqi, Party secretary of Nankai University.
