2000 Saw 100m Passengers in and out of Shenzhen Ports

Over 112m passengers were reported to have been in and out of Shenzhen's Luohu Port, Huanggang and others last year to show a 13% increase over 1999 according to statistics from Shenzhen. With over 11.25m, up 12.5%, of vehicles in and out of these ports, ships, planes and trains in and out had all been at a new record high number.

Last year Shenzhen's ports had patrol strengthened and bettered their service to make procedures safer, faster and more convenient. Meanwhile they also raised their capability in fighting crimes. Altogether 15,353 cases in violation of entry and exit regulations were handled. Of these, 15,833 persons were involved, some being suspects of major crimes or economic cases, and a total of more than 700m yuan of indirect economic loss was saved.
