In may of 1999, three Tsinghua University students founded See Co. to develop its core product����a large-screen multimedia projection TV.
In July of 1999, See signed a two-term risk investment agreement with Shanghai First Department Store Co.Ltd�� the first risk investment involving a listed company.
At the end of 1999, the large-screen multimedia developed successfully. Once investors heard of this, they expressed their wish to cooperate with the company.
With the agreement of Shanghai First Department Store Co. Ltd., See decided to sign a contract with Qingdao Okema Group to launch Beijing Okema See IT Co. Ltd.
It has a registered capital of 30 million yuan, with each partner holding 50 percent. Assisted by Okema's management and marketing skills, the new company has more than 80 employees after half a year of development.
It also has sep up 1,500-square-meter of offices and a research center in Beijing and built a 3,500-square-meter factory. Its assembly line has an annual production capacity of 100,000 TV sets.
The projection TV was made to international standards and is the first product of its kind made in China. It was to be put on the market in December.
