France, Britain to Hold Summit in February

France and Britain will hold a summit meeting on February 9 in the southwest French region of Lot, reported the Toulouse-based French newspaper La Depeche du Midi on Saturday.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair, French President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Lionel Jospin will attend the summit which will be held in a castle overlooking the valley of Lot.

France and Britain disputed over the role of the future European rapid reaction force during the European Union summit in Nice, France, last month.

France wants the force to be autonomous of NATO in military planning, a proposal rejected by Britain.
