International Ice Engraving Contest Opens in Harbin

The 15th Harbin International Ice Engraving Contest opened January 6 in Harbin, capital of

northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

Nineteen teams from China, Russia, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Singapore, and other countries have come to attend the contest.

With the theme "New Century - Dream of Ice," this contest will display the happy mood people have shown in greeting the new century.

The contest is held at Zhaolin Park and will last until January 8.

This year, visitors will be allowed to enter the contest area in order to get a closer look at the artists' ice engraving skills.
