China Provides Loan to Ethiopian Textile Mill

China Friday provided Ethiopia a loan of US$1 million to help the country upgrade its Awassa Textile Share Company, one of the largest textile mills in the country.

At a ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Jiang Zhengyun handed over the 1-million-dollar check to Assefa Abraha, head of the Public Enterprises Supervising Authority.

Jiang said: "I am confident that, with our concerted efforts, the friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries as well as the friendship between our two peoples will be further promoted."

Assefa, the ministerial level official, said the Ethiopian government attaches great importance to maintaining good relations with China.

Thanks to the active involvement of Chinese experts in the management, the textile venture has been making remarkable progress in its production, he said.
