Blood Spectrum Drawn for Giant Pandas

Giant panda's blood spectrum was recently drawn for the first time in Beijing and this is a significant move for the protection and study of giant pandas, according to the specialists in concern.

The research has been jointly carried out by Beijing Zoo and blood cell specialists Liu Zhijie and Huang Wenyuan of China Medical University. Using a micro-analytical apparatus with a magnification of 20,000 times developed by Tsinghua Tongfang Co. Ltd, the specialists have succeeded in drawing out the blood cell configuration of healthy giant pandas in the Beijing Zoo after an insidious study and analysis of their blood cells and monocytes.

According to Liu Zhijie, 74-year old specialist who have engaged in cytology study for some 48 years, the accomplishment of the blood spectrum for giant pandas will greatly help the prevention and curing of diseases for giant pandas. That means, you've only to draw and analyze a drop of blood from the giant panda, can the diagnosis be made by comparing the tested blood spectrum with that of a healthy giant panda.

Beside giant pandas, the specialists have also drawn blood spectra for over 40 kinds of wild animals including the Siberian tiger, south China tiger, and golden-hair monkey, the first large-scale and systemic drawing of blood spectra for wild animals in the world.
