Ang Lee Thinking of Filming "The Berlin Diaries" With Nicole Kidman

Ang Lee, one of world's hottest directors after his box-office hit "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", is thinking about filming a World War II true-life story with Australian actress Nicole Kidman as the lead, the German newspaper Die Welt reports in its Thursday edition.

The Taiwanese film-maker wants to adapt "The Berlin Diaries", a biography of a Russian aristocrat named Marie Vassiltchikov who found herself trapped with her family in Hitler's Germany at the outset of the war, the newspaper said.

It added, however, that no production dates had yet been set.

Chinese-born Ang has built a solid if diverse reputation from his critically acclaimed works "Eat Drink Man Woman", "The Ice Storm" and last year's martial-arts sensation "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". (China Daily)

In 1995, Lee directed his first English-language film, "Sense and Sensibility", which went on to garner seven Academy Award nominations.
