Pakistan Has Confidence in Negotiations with India: FM

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Abdus Sattar on Thursday expressed his confidence that Pakistan and India would embark upon peaceful negotiations in the near future on the root cause of the tension between them.

He made the gesture after attending the National Security Council meeting here.

He said Pakistan has taken due note of the statements in India, especially by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the eve of the New Year.

He said Pakistan is impressed by what Vajpayee has said and hoped that a dialogue will begin between the two countries in the near future.
