Result of Hong Kong Top 10 Events in 2000 Comes Out
Among the top 10 events most favored by Hong Kong residents in 2000, the "one country, two systems" unswervingly implemented by the HKSAR tops the list.
Sponsored by Hong Kong Wen Wai Po Daily, the selection result was obtained from 13,000 questionnaires on the selection of "10 Most Satisfied Events related to the HKSAR 2000" by readers of the paper.
Following are the top 10 events listed by the paper:
1, HKSAR resolutely practices the "One country, two Systems'
2, The success of the Second Legislative Council election
3, Dealing with extended staying residents in Hong Kong according to laws
4, Thoroughly settling the problem regarding boatmen lingering in Hong Kong
5, Opening the market to bring about a robust economic recovery
6, Intensifying environmental protection and improving air quality
7, Allocating HK$2.7 billion for implementing poverty-relief measures
8, Intensifying job training, and reducing the unemployment rate
9, Comprehensively carrying out the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF)
10, Stabilizing the real estates market, improve public housing quality
The most satisfied events selected by readers cover politics, economy, daily life and other aspects, and the result shows that relevant policies implemented by the special administrative government have received widespread acknowledgement and supports.
Starting from 1998, the Wen Wai Po has held such selection once every year.
