1000-Year-Old Horse Graves Unearthed in ChongqingChinese archaeologists have found two horse graves dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) in Yunyang County in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.Located at the Three Gorges Area, one well-protected grave was found to contain a complete horse skeleton, while the other was found dilapidated with fragmentary horse bones. The discovery of horse graves in the area was a surprise because the steep mountainous condition are not suitable for raising horses and experts have not found any historical records on horses in the area. The discovery will provide valuable clues for studying the region's history and society in ancient times, said an expert. In addition, a Tang Dynasty brick tomb was unearthed at a site 100 meters away from the graves, the expert said, and abundant pottery articles such as pots, bowls and basins were excavated from the tomb.
