Record 88% Dissatisfied With Japanese Politics: PollA record 88% of Japanese in a fresh public opinion poll are dissatisfied with politics, with a majority of them saying they do not trust politicians, the Mainichi Shimbun reported Thursday.The Mainichi said its latest survey in December shows the dissatisfaction level topped a previous high of 87% set in December 1995 in the final days of the administration of then Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama. Only 10% expressed satisfaction with the current state of Japanese politics, the Mainichi poll shows. Asked about the reasons for their discontent with politics, 60% of those dissatisfied said politicians are not behaving the way they should. As for remarks by politicians, 80% said they do not trust what politicians say, according to the Mainichi survey. |
