India Successfully Tests Light Combat Aircraft

The first prototype of indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), one of the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world, was successfully test flown in Bangalore Thursday morning.

"We have just now completed the test", Aeronautical Development Agency Director Kota Harinarayana told reporters soon after the maiden flight of the LCA, describing it as "successful."

The first tryst with the skies for the LCA came after 15 long years of the 30 billion Rupee (US$645 million) project, plagued by delays and sanctions, the Press Trust of India said.
