At the doctors' advice, she underwent an operation at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital on December 27, 2000. A small-scale ceremony attended by the hospital president was held to mark her departure Wednesday as she was the oldest patient ever undergone surgery at the hospital. The anesthetist for the operation said that because the patient is aged, he had to be careful when administering the anesthetic.
