CCB Makes Breakthrough in Individual E-remittance

The China Construction Bank (CCB) announced Wednesday, January 3, that its individual electronics remittance business made a breakthrough in 1999 by finishing with a business volume of 111.8 billion yuan at the end of November.

A spokesman for the CCB said that the bank received commission charges of over 100 million yuan in the 11 months, setting a new record.

He said that with the gradual development of China's market economy, social community demands for banks have developed from capital only to comprehensive financial services, and banking competition has been progressing toward intermediate banking businesses.

Over the past few years, he said, the CCB has made great efforts in developing agent services for securities and insurance industries, as well as financial services such as capital clearing and fund entrust.

So far all of the CCB's branches and over 20,000 business outlets throughout the country have opened capital remittance businesses, and the fast development of its on-line banking also supported business development.
