Telecom Fee-Cut to Bring China Unicom 193.3Mn Yuan Net Profits
China Unicom recently said that the just announced lowering of telecom fee would bring 193.3 million yuan net profits for the company.
According to China Unicom, in the first six months after the new Telecom charging standard becoming effective, the income of the company will be reduced by 76 million yuan, but meanwhile, its expenditure on telephone line rent will drop by 270 million yuan. After counter-balancing, China Unicom is expected to obtain considerable proceeds.
According to a Computer World report, as of January 25, the Ministry of Information Industry will ask fixed telephone network operators to lower telephone network lease fees and cease charging additional fees on mobile phones. According to the latest Telecom fee adjustment plan, China Unicom is required to cut long-distance call and Internet access fees. In addition, the payment of monthly Internet service fees of the company is going to be reduced by 55 percent.
China Unicom was founded on July 19, 1994 which is the second largest telecommunication operator across China. It has set up subsidiaries and branches in 30 province, autonomous regions and municipalities in China. On June 21 and 22, 2000, it got listed in New York Stock Exchange and Hong Kong.
