13 Cases of Economic Crime Dealt with in Beijing, Each Involving 10 Million Yuan
Last year saw a total of 1293 cases of economic crimes handled by the municipal organ of Beijing, with 13 of them involving a respective amount of over 10 million yuan.
Xu Haifeng, chief procurator of the People's Procuratorate of Beijing said at the ongoing Working Conference for Chief Procurators that remarkable progress has been made in cracking down on various economic crimes like corruption, bribery, malpractice and other crimes committed at post. A total of 1293 cases have been heard with 386 filed and investigated, resulting in a retrieval of 210 million yuan. Among them, 260 cases had an involvement of 50,000 yuan, 64 cases 1 million yuan and 13 serious ones, an involvement of 10 million yuan for each.
Xu said that fast economic growth has brought about higher demands on procuratorial organs for a new and better investigating skill when dealing with cases.
