China Netcom Lowers IP Phone Fees
As learnt from Sichuan subsidiary, China Netcom Co., Ltd. (CNC, www.cnc.net.cn) China Netcom Monday declared to lower its fees for IP telephones in China from 0:00 of January 1, 2001.
The adjustment this time mainly includes a large margin of price cut concerning international telephones. Long-distance calls through China Netcom services from China to the United States and Canada will be charged at 2.4 yuan per minute, down by 50 percent from the original 4.8 yuan per minute. Calls to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will be charged at 1.5 yuan per minute, down by 40 percent from the original 2.5 yuan per minute; with calls to other countries and regions charged at 3.2 yuan per minute, down by 33 percent from the original 4.8 yuan per minute.
From the first day of the price adjustment, all users, new and old, of China Netcom IP telephone services will have the right to enjoy the new standard of phone charges. The new standard applies to all services provided at present by China Netcom, including the services of IP cards, payment after talk, payment before talk, banking cards and mobile calls. Users of IP telephone services will become the first beneficiary group after the adjustment.
