Construction of Haikou Railway Station StartedThe construction of Haikou railway station, one of the most important projects along Yuehai (Guangdong - Hainan) passageway linking up China's inland with Hainan Island to cross the Qiongzhou Straits, has been launched on December 28 morning.With a total investment of 60 million yuan, the station is put underway in two phases and to be completed by 2002, covering a floor space of 21,000 square meters. Shaped in a gable style as houses of the inhabitants in Hainan and grayish blue in color, it fully expresses the tropical scenery in harmony with the local traditional culture.
