China's Tourism Revenue Reaches 450 Bn Yuan in 2000China's tourism revenue in 2000 is expected to hit 450 billion yuan, with a total of US$16 billion in foreign exchange and 320 billion yuan from domestic travelers, according to an official of the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) Monday.The country registered some 83 million overseas tourist arrivals, including 10 million foreign tourists, the official said. "Tourism has become a new economic growth point and a precursory industry in opening to the rest of the world," said Sun Gang, deputy director of the CNTA, while addressing the opening ceremony of the Changchun Snow and Ice Festival Monday. "In the coming five years, China will concentrate on several topics to promote its tourism and attract more tourists from home and abroad, such as folklore arts, catering, and ordinary people's lives."
