Result of China's First Appraisal of Economic Annual Figures Published
The result of the selection through appraisal of 2000 China Economic Annual Figures has recently published in Beijing. The event was sponsored by CCTV and undertaken jointly by some websites including www.people.com, www.xinhuanet.com, and www.eastday.com.

The appraisal committee, which was composed of 100 authoritative economists and 50 well-known financial and economic reporters, selected top 10 "annual personages" from among people most active in the 2000 Chinese economic arena, these figures were the representatives of the Chinese economy in the past year. They reflected the course of change in China's economy in the past year and they show the development trend of China's economy in the future.

The 10 persons are:

Wu Jinglian, famous economist; Liu Chuanzhi, board chairman and president of Legend Group; Tian Suning, president and CEO of China Netcom; Liang Dingbang, advisor to China Securities Regulatory Commission; Zhang Ruimin, CEO of Haier Group; Peng Zuoyi, general manager of Tsingtao Brewery Group (TBG); Zhou Houjian, board chairman of Hisense Group; Zhang Hongwei, Board chairman of the Orient Group; Qiu Bojun, board chairman of Kingsoft Group; and Wangshi, board chairman of Vanke Group.
