Yonhap, the official News Agency reported from Seoul on Jan. 2 that the unseasonable arrival of yellow dust from China began polluting the winter air of most areas of Korea Tuesday.

The KOR Meteorological Administration (KMA) said, 'The sandy dust, which was carried from the Chinese inland to the Korean Peninsula on a rising aerial current, could be seen from the morning in most central regions of the nation, including Seoul, Kyonggi and Chungchong Provinces.' 'The yellow dust phenomenon, which is also passing over DPRK, has shortened visibility to 2.5 kilometers,' the KMA said, 'It is expected to be blown away over the East Sea after spreading to the entire peninsula late Tuesday.'
