Chinese Leaders Attend New Year Concert
China's top legislator Li Peng enjoyed a "New Century, New Year Concert" at the Baoli Theater in Beijing Monday evening together with other leaders and some 1,000 people.
Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Also present at the concert were Head of the CPC Central Committee's Publicity Department Ding Guangen and Vice Premier Qian Qichen, both members of the Political Bureau of the CPC's Central Committee.
The new year concert was sponsored by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the China Central Television and the China Philharmonic Orchestra.
A number of Chinese artists performed both Chinese and foreign works at the concert.
