National Library Branch Reopens
The 70-year-old Capital Library, now part of China's National Library, reopened on the New Year's Day after a three-year-long repair.
The branch's 1.64 million copies of ancient books and hundreds of thousands of modern Chinese books add the collection of the National Library up to more than 22 million, according to a source with the library.
In addition to the existing reading rooms of ancient books, local chronicles, Chinese books, newspapers and magazines, the branch has set up a number of new facilities including reading rooms for children and the handicapped, a computerized reading room, and multifunctional halls for academic conferences and exhibitions.
