First Group of Foreign Tourists Arrive in Shanghai
Twentythree German tourists, who arrived in Shanghai at 10 o'clock Monday morning, have become the city's first group of foreign visitors in the 21st century.
A local travel committee organized a warm welcoming ceremony at Hongqiao International Airport for the new visitors, who came from Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and other big cities in Germany.
Shanghai is making great efforts to develop its international tourism, and it is preparing to receive some two million foreign travelers this year, with Europe as its largest market.
