Animals Celebrate New Century in Shanghai Safari ParkFloat parades, dressing up, acrobatics shows, weddings -- the players were not men and women, but tigers, lions, monkeys and other animals.Animals living in the Shanghai Safari Park Monday "celebrated" the arrival of the new century with a variety of interesting activities. Walking into the park, one was greeted by a special team, led by a Siberian tiger, containing lions, panthers, bears, macaques, alpacas and zebras. These colorfully dressed animals greeted the visitors in line --some of the animals stood still, some ran all over the place, while some stared at the visitors curiously. Among the line up were several dancing and singing flamingos. At the same time, a game of soccer was played in the park's playground. Of course, the athletes were all lions. They also "waved" to the audiences occasionally during their performance. At the home of the sea lions, there were seal lions dancing water ballet, performing acrobatics, and some even doing Chinese Wushu (martial art). Perhaps the busiest place was the park's hill zone where monkeys and donkeys were holding a traditional Chinese style wedding ceremony, and an alpaca couple from South America was holding a western style wedding.
