Pakistan Rejects India's Charge of Threat to Vajpayee

Pakistan on Monday denied involvement in threat to Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, terming India's accusation as "baseless."

"We regret that the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Vajpayee has accused Pakistan of 'involvement' in the alleged threat of attacking his office," said a press release on Monday from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry about Vajpayee's remarks on Sunday accusing Pakistan of supporting a Kashmiri militant group in a threat to attack his office.

"The government of Pakistan holds Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in high esteem and wishes him good health and a long life, " the press release said.

"The accusation is baseless. Pakistan unequivocally condemns terrorism and threats of terrorist attacks," the press release said.

Vajpayee also said that India wants peace and friendship with Pakistan and asked Pakistan to stop aiding militants.
