Century Baby Gemsbok Born in East China Zoo

A gemsbok antelope born just after midnight on Monday in the Shanghai Wildlife Zoo was the first animal to be born in the new century in Shanghai.

Nanxing, the mother gemsbok, which came from the Sahara desert in Africa, gave birth to the baby gemsbok with brown fur, which weighs 6.5 kg.

Both the mother and the baby gemsbok are in good condition. The zoo will soon invite people to name the "century baby".
