Hong Kong to Promote Films at Cannes
Hong Kong will make good use of the Cannes International Film Festival in May this year to boost its film industry, an official said Monday.
The activities to promote Hong Kong's films during the festival will include a spectacular gala, screening of Hong Kong films, promotional booths at the International Village of the festival venue and advertisements in popular international film magazines, said Assistant Commissioner for Television and Entertainment Licensing of Hong Kong Helen Tang.
The promotion is one of the 15 projects to be supported by the 23.5 million HK dollars (US$3 million) Film Development Fund to facilitate the long term development of Hong Kong's film industry.
Tang hoped the Cannes project will help enhance the international status of Hong Kong films, develop overseas markets and develop Hong Kong into an ideal place for film shooting.
