Cross-Century Voyage From China to Vietnam

A luxury passenger liner left for Vinh Ha Long, a famous sea tourism attraction in Vietnam, at 5:00 pm Sunday, as part of the new century celebrations sponsored by China's tourism departments.

The passenger liner, called New Shanghai, set sail with 200 tourists aboard.

They will arrive at Vinh Ha Long Monday morning.

The Beihai-Vinh Ha Long voyage is one of the most attractive tourism routes between China and Vietnam. Since November of 1999 when it opened, it attracted some 32,000 tourists.

At present, it is also China's only cross-border tourism route on sea that does not require passports from passengers.
