2,500-year-old Spring to Be RecoveredJinan, capital of east China's Shandong province, is increasing efforts in search for an ancient spring that died away around the 18th century.Huaquan spring, the name of the ancient spring, has been mentioned in ancient books dating back to around 2,500 years. The spring had been silted several times until it disappeared in the mid Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD.). The recovery of the spring aroused great interest among local citizens when an object related to the spring was found early this year. Local government is drying up the Huayang Lake where the spring was situated. Jinan was once rich in spring resources and so it's known across the country as the "spring city".
