Chinese State Leaders Attend New Year Concert
Chinese state leader Wei Jianxing, Li Lanqing enjoyed the Beijing 2001 New Year Concert with thousands of audience in Sunday evening at the Great Hall of the People in this Chinese capital.

Both Wei and Li are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Also presented the concert were Beijing mayor Jia Qinglin and other state and municipal officials as well as some 40 foreign ambassadors and their wives.

A number of China's first-class performers, symphony orchestras and glee clubs staged both Chinese and foreign music works at the concert.

It is the fourth time for Beijing to hold such a New Year Concert which is usually sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Municipal Government of Beijing.
