Another Palestinian Fatah Leader Assassinated

A Palestinian Fatah leader from the West Bank city of Tulkaram was assassinated on Sunday, according to the Jerusalem Media and Communication Center (JMCC), a Palestinian media center in East Jerusalem.

Thabet Thabet, 40, general director of the Control and Inspection Department of the Health Ministry of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), was killed by an Israeli Special Unit near his home in the city.

Thabet was also the secretary of Fatah in Tulkaram.

Fatah is the main political faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization under the leadership of PNA Chairman Yasser Arafat.

This was another major military action taken by the Israel Defense Force (IDF) against Fatah key members.

On November 9, an Israeli combat helicopter raided a vehicle in the West Bank town of Beit Sahur near Bethlehem, killing Hussein Abayat, a key member of Fatah, and two Palestinian women.

But so far the IDF did not give any details of why Thabet was chosen as a target.
