Macao SAR Chief Executive Calls for Better Future
Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, urged December 31 the residents to work together with the government in an effort to build a better future for the region.
On behalf of the Macao SAR government, the chief executive, in a New Year message, expressed regards and congratulations to the local residents.
"In the recent celebrations marking the first anniversary of the SAR's establishment, we had a deep feeling of the residents' happiness with and expectations for the government," he said.
"With concerted efforts of both the government and residents over the past year, we have scored some achievements and obtained a lot of valuable experience," Ho said.
He noted that in the year 2000, the Macao SAR faced historical and current challenges and smoothly practiced the "one country, two systems" policy.
In the coming new year, the SAR government will make more efforts to improve administrative efficiency and boost economic development, he said in the message.
He expressed the belief that the participation and hard work of the residents will greatly boost social and economic development of the SAR and the civil servants in turn will do their best to serve the residents sincerely.
