South Africans Win Tour of South China Sea

South African bicyclists Malcolm Lange and Neil MacDonald won the Fifth Tour of South China Sea in Macao Sunday, December 31, in terms of score and time respectively.

Following the contests of seven legs in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Macao, Malcolm Lange scored a total of 99 points and was presented a red jersey.

His teammate Neil MacDonald got a yellow jersey for he was the fastest bicyclist in the tour, using the time of 12 hours, three minutes 18 seconds in seven legs.

The last leg of the tour race was held Sunday morning along a 1.65-km circular road in the Taipa Island of Macao. Braving strong sea wind and chilly air, Malcolm Lange finished 40 laps in one hour, 25 minutes and 46 seconds.

Shibuya Junichi representing Japanese team and Masahiko Mifune representing the Jianlibao cycling team of Hong Kong became the second and the third with less than one second after Malcolm Lange.
