Relics of Yangshao Culture Unearthed in Central ChinaThe site of a clan village of the Yangshao Culture, featuring four stone tombs, was recently unearthed in Xixia County, central China's Henan Province.Experts estimate that the tombs were built during the early or middle stage of the Yangshao culture, approximately 5600 to 6800 years ago, and are the earliest of their kind in Chinese history discovered so far. The site of the house foundations show that the houses were composed of large and small rooms, exactly the same as the pattern of today, and walls had been baked to make them last longer. Covering an area of 20,000 square meters, this site will provide rich material for the study of Chinese history, especially the cultural exchanges between the south and north. The Yangshao Culture is a culture of the Neolithic period in China, the relics of which were first unearthed in Yangshao Village of Henan Province in 1921. |
