Senior Party Official Calls for Sound Work Style
A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Saturday, December 30, that sound work style must be adopted next year to ensure the implementation the overall plan of the CPC Central Committee for Party building and the accomplishment of various tasks concerning the Party's organizational work.
This is the requirement for providing organizational guarantee to successfully carry out the country's tenth five-year plan for social and economic development in 2001-2005, said Zeng Qinghong, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, at a national conference of Party organization department chiefs.
He said that the Party's organization departments at all levels should adhere to General Secretary Jiang Zemin's "three-emphases" on theoretical study, political awareness and good conduct, and abide by the requirements of the CPC Central Committee for Party building.
The reform of the personnel system should be accelerated to increase democracy in the administration of cadres and encourage the masses to be involved in the process, Zeng said.
He noted that it is of strategic significance to do a good job in training cadres and selecting high-quality cadres who can meet the needs for development in the new century.
Efforts should be made to strengthen supervision over leading cadres, especially major leading cadres, and over the promotion of cadres, so as to prevent corruption in the selection of cadres, Zeng stressed.
Zeng also called for strengthening Party building at the grassroots level, with emphasis placed on rural areas, state-owned enterprises and urban communities.
Cadres with the organization department who violate disciplines on personnel management will be severely punished no matter who is involved, he said, adding that whoever breaks the law will be prosecuted.
