Yugoslavian Parliament Approves Budget for 2001

The Yugoslavian upper house of Parliament adopted the federal government's budget for 2001, which totals 45.8 billion dinar (US$726 million) on Thursday.

National defense spending accounts for 70 percent of the budget, while spending on the federal government's daily operations will comprise 15 percent, and pensions and funds for the disabled will comprise 7 percent.

The budget was approved by the lower house of the Parliament on Wednesday.
