"Biography of Zhou Enlai" Japanese Edition Published in Japan

Compiled by the Party Literature Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, a two-volume "Biography of Zhou Enlai (1949-1976)" of Japanese edition has been published by Iwanami Bookstore on December 25 in Tokyo.

The book is, as reported, the most detailed biography of Zhou Enlai ever published in Japan. Based on the original text of 800,000 Chinese characters, the Japanese edition contains 1,200,000 words. Nevertheless, the book is still attached with a chronology of Zhou Enlai's life and an annotation to the translation in Japanese, totaling 100,000 words by the translator Liu Junnan and his copartner.

More than 500 sets were sold on the day of its appearance and two days later saw the amount of selling come up to over 980. Almost a quarter of century has gone by since Primier Zhou's passing away in 1976 and followed with similar publications earlier in Japan, yet the Biography still won warm response from among the Japanese readers. This demonstrates what a place Zhou held in the mind's eye of the Japanese people, said Liu.
