Kindling of the Universiade Torchlight to Be CollectedAltogether six Chinese undergraduates including Liu Wei, former Ping-pong world champion and now student of Beijing University, left for Massey University of New Zealand on December 27, the university to receive the world's first sunlight of the new century. There they are expected to collect "New Century Light" for the 21st Universiade on January 1, 2001. กกAnd Li Ning, a former Olympic champion and undergraduate of Beijing University, will collect, the same morning, another kindling of "New Century Light", in the Beijing University campus. The kindling will be taken to and kept in China Centenary Altar after the 21 torch relays.
