HK Chief Executive Starts Guangdong Visit

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee Hwa on Friday started his two-day visit in Guangdong Province to see the latest social and economic developments in Guangzhou, Dongguan and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

In Guangzhou, Tung visited several factories and met with Guangdong Governor Lu Ruihua and provincial and municipal officials to exchange views on matters of mutual concern.

Tung went to the Tianhe high-tech industrial park where he visited the Jinpeng Group, which specializes in the development and manufacture of mobile telecommunication systems.

The chief executive then visited a China-Japan joint venture, the Guangzhou Honda Automobile Company Ltd., which was established in 1998 and boasts an annual production of 30,000 vehicles.

Tung will continue his visit program in Dongguan and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on Saturday and will return to Hong Kong Saturday evening.
