Performing Gala Prepared for Spring Festival

The preparation of the annual China Central Television (CCTV) performing gala for the Spring Festival has been completed.

As a tradition for the latest 10 years, the gala, organized by China's Ministry of Culture, will be broadcast by CCTV on the evening of January 24, which is the Lunar New Year Day.

The ministry garnered most of the outstanding performers from well-known groups nationwide.

When pursuing the long-time policy of artistic advancement, directors of the gala this year wished to promote many new faces and new performances, general director Xing Dehui said.

Many top singers, dancers, composers and choreographers were invited to produce the delicate gala, Xing said.

The classical pieces included in the evening gala are ballet The Nutcracker Suite, Melodrama Cat, chorus Two Springs Mirroring the Moon and Beijing Opera sections.

Artists from the Central Philharmonic Orchestra, the Central Philharmonic Chorus, the Central Opera Theater, the Central Opera and Ballet Theater, the Central Nationalities Orchestra, Oriental Song and Dance Ensemble, China Beijing Opera Troupe, are took part in the performance, which was filmed and edited in the past six months.
