Official Contact with Taiwan Opposed

China reaffirmed December 28 its consistent opposition to any official contact with Taiwan by any country that has diplomatic ties with China.

Any official contact or official agreement, especially military ones, are firmly opposed, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue at a regular press conference, while commenting on recent reports that military pilots from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and France are to fly Taiwanese jet fighters as part of a military training exchange program.

China is paying close attention to the reports and its above-mentioned position is clear and consistent, said Zhang.

She urged countries concerned to follow their commitments, not to do anything detrimental to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and not to interfere in China's internal affairs.
