China to Become Major Market for Southern Africa: Expert
An African trade expert has said that China will soon become a major market for many countries in Southern Africa, Zambia Daily Mail newspaper reported on Thursday, December 28.
Kaire Mbuende, former secretary-general of the Southern Africa Development Community, was quoted as saying that Southern Africa and China are emerging markets with potential to reinforce each other's competitive edge in the global market.
However, the full potential of economic relations between China and the region has not been explored partly due to lack of information and knowledge about each other's products and markets, Mbuende said.
He said that once China joins the World Trade Organization, the Southern African companies should explore investment and trade in areas in China where they would have competitive advantage.
