East Extension of Shanghai Subway Line II Completed

On December 26, the east extension of Shanghai subway Line II was opened to traffic. Nearly 300 staff members of Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park and representatives of Shanghai residents took the first downtown trip by the subway.

Shanghai subway Line II starts from Longyang Station and ends in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Station, involving a total length of 2.8 kilometers. It is the longest section of the current Shanghai subway routes, 0.84 kilometers underground, and 1.96 kilometers overhead.

The first-phase project of Shanghai subway Line II, finished on June 11 this year, is from Zhongshan Park Station in Puxi to Longyang Road Station in Pudong, totaling 16.3 kilometers in length. With the completion of the Line II east extension project, the subway Line has been extended to 19.1 kilometers, passing through the east and west banks of Pujiang River.
