Shenzhen Invests More in Africa

Companies in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, have so far started 14 projects in Africa.

These projects involve US$42 million of investment by Chinese investors, said a local official in charge of foreign trade and economic cooperation.

Most of the companies are engaged in the high-tech sector. Zhongxing Telecommunications Co. Ltd, a major telecommunications equipment maker in China, took the lead in investing in the African continent.

Zhongxing has also set up business offices in 17 African countries to help those countries build telecommunications networks.
