Official: Chinese IT Companies Need to Be Bolder

Qu Weizhi, vice-minister of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), called for bolder steps by Chinese IT firms during an inspection of LangChao Group, one of China leading electronic manufacturers.

"Chinese IT companies should step up co-operation with each other," she said. "Otherwise, they will not be able to compete with big foreign companies after China joins the World Trade Organization."

Qu said: "Upon China's entry into WTO, Chinese IT enterprises will lose government protection. They should team up, form strategic partnerships and take advantage each other's strengths. Only in this way can they have a chance of securing their market share."
