Tourist City Hosts First Vocal Contest of English Songs
Dalian, a coastal tourist city in northeast China's
Liaoning
Province, held the first vocal contest of English songs Tuesday.
More than 100 singers from local universities and other circles registered to participate in the contest. Their distinguished performance was highly praised by the jury, consisting of local musicians and experts from the
United States
and the
Philippines
.
The contest is one of a series of activities aimed to improve local residents' foreign language level and increase their knowledge of other cultures.
