China, Cambodia Signs Loan Agreement

On behalf of the China Import and Export Bank, Chinese Ambassador Ning Fucui and Cambodian Finance Minister Keat Chhon signed an agreement of RMB 50 million Yuan in loan at the Ministry of Finance in Phnom Penh on December 25 afternoon.

This sum of loan provided by the China's Import and Export Bank belongs to a part of the loan agreement reached by the two governments in early 1999, as per which the Chinese government would provide Cambodia with RMB 150 million Yuan in Loan.

The yearly interest rate of the loan is set at 3 percent, its repayment period has been expanded from the original 12 years to 20 years, with the grace term of 4 to 5 years.

The Royal government will give the loan to a private enterprise to construct a textile factory.
