ICBC Supports Transportation Project Construction

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) said Monday, December 25 that it has granted loans topping 60 billion yuan (US#7.2 billion) to support 500 highway projects in the past three years.

Bank statistics show that these loans largely went to the construction of more than 8,000 kilometers of expressways and high-grade highways, all key state infrastructure projects.

The bank has given priority to the country's western areas, with loans to the transportation infrastructure projects in these areas increasing by 100 percent annually.

A bank spokesman said that the bank has drawn on its advantages in capital and information to improve financial services and help owners of super large projects in fund management.
